HONORARY DEGREE, UMA and NEW ALBUM
We are delighted to announce that Courtney was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Music from Southampton University early this month and it was also announced that he will be the recipient of the 2010 Living Legend Award at the Urban Music Awards in London in September.
Great news for Courtney who is currently in the studio finishing his forthcoming album "Europa". His latest project, due for release on Destin-e Records in February 2011 features Zoe Rahman, Alec Dankworth, Mark Mondesir and special guests Dominic Grant, Cameron Pierre, Omar Puente, Amanda Drummond.

A MESSAGE FROM COURTNEY
On the 2nd May the Courtney Pine Band performed to a sold out
audience in Kaunas, Lithuania. After 3 encores and a standing
ovation the band received an award for the "Best Performance" at
the festival.
On receiving the award Courtney said "I am so moved to collect this
award especially as it was voted for by the Kaunus audience, I would like to thank the festival organizers, staff and all the supporters of jazz
jazz in this great city.
I would sincerely like to thank the band, Robert Fordjour, Cameron
Pierre, Zoe Rahman, Omar Puente, Darren Taylor, Kevin Callen, Nikki Neave, Steve Reece, Sahan Satis for sharing that stage with me and
for all the work that you put into keeping the show alive - at last
somebody else has recognized your talent. This is our first award for
the Transition in Tradition project, thank you all - you deserved it!
